2009 REVIEW

The top Russian captured his 15th ATP World Tour title in Hamburg in July, extending his streak of winning at least one title for seven consecutive years. The following week in Umag, the Russian won back-to-back titles for the first time in his career as he triumphed with a crushing 6-3, 6-0 victory over Juan Carlos Ferrero. Subsequently rose one spot to No. 8 in the South African Airways 2009 ATP Rankings. His 12-match winning streak came to an end in the quarter-finals of the Rogers Cup in Montreal, where he lost to Andy Murray in straight sets.
