Capitala Community Cup kicks off across the UAE as tennis players compete to win a session with the world’s best

The first of the Capitala Community Cup tournaments has kicked off in Abu Dhabi with local tennis players hitting the courts for their chance to win an exclusive session with one of the world’s top players at the Capitala World Tennis Championship.

Taking place at Beach Rotana, Abu Dhabi, 24 players aged between 7 and 10 years launched the popular tournament which is expected to see hundreds of players across the country participating over the coming month (7 November - 5 December). A tournament also took place at Dubai Men’s College this weekend with 30 participants in the under 10s age group taking part.

Alexander Voutchkov, the winner from the Abu Dhabi tournament, said:

Capitala Community Cup kicks off across the UAE as tennis players compete to win a session with the world’s best "I had a lot of fun playing in the tournament. There were some tough rallies, but I got through it. I can hardly wait for the session at the Capitala World Tennis Championship!"

The Capitala Community Cup events will be played at tennis clubs across Abu Dhabi and Dubai and is open to all ages from 8 years through to adults, with player fields divided in to five age groups. The Capitala Community Cup was launched to help promote the sport of tennis across the UAE and highlight the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle, whilst also giving local players the chance to play competitive tennis.

Capitala Community Cup kicks off across the UAE as tennis players compete to win a session with the world’s best Four star player clinics will be held during the Capitala World Tennis Championship from December 31 2009 - January 2 2010 for the winners and runners-up at their respective CCC qualifier tournaments. Additional spots in the clinics will be available through a raffle prize draw at each qualifying venue.

Two complimentary tickets will be given to the winners for Day 2 of the Capitala Community Cup Trophy presentation ceremony.

Last year’s Capitala Community Cup was a huge success and saw over 250 children participate from across the Emirates.
