November 30 2008; Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Capitala Community Cup – a new competition that involved the participation of amateur tennis clubs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai , reached an exciting climax over the weekend and will see the winners link up with Abu Dhabi’s, first-ever international tennis tournament.

The Capitala Community Cup is part of a series of unique tennis-themed initiatives in the weeks leading up to the inaugural Capitala World Tennis Championship, a three-day event in Abu Dhabi, from 1-3 January 2009. The inaugural Capitala World Tennis Championship will play host to six of the world’s best male tennis players including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray.

The Capitala Community Cup saw children and adults from all walks of life compete for a chance to take part in a unique ‘star clinic’ with one of the tennis aces. Players were provided with a range of sports kit courtesy of Nike, one of the sponsors of the event.

Chase Paul, one of the excited winners of the Capitala Community Cup and a keen tennis fan, was thrilled to participate in the tournament.

“It was so much fun playing the Capitala Community Cup and I am very excited to play with the stars at the Clinic as I have never played with a professional tennis player before,” said winner of the under 12’s, Chase Paul from Trinidad & Tobago. “The fact that there will be so many top ten world players at the same tournament is very exciting.”

“It was a lot of fun. I played many new kids. At most tournaments I play against the same people every time. The kids here were good,” said Nouna’s nine year old brother, Adham Hesham, who has also been playing tennis for five years.

“We are genuinely excited by the opportunities that The Capitala Community Cup will offer to local sports groups and individual sporting talent.
